"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."

- Lao-Tzu

Or in your case, three.

If you’re starting from zero and feel a bit overwhelmed, don’t worry. We recommend you complete these three simple steps to take your insurance game to the next level:

  1. Create a data room where your insurance and compliance documents live (coverage certifications, documents, contracts your drivers sign, loss history, quality management system standards, etc.) so you can know where your organization currently stands.

  2. Get to know what coverage mandates your future clients require if you’re eyeing that next level of growth for your business. Or if you’re worried about existing clients, create a list of the insurance obligations your current clients require. Inquiring proactively can help present you to customers as a professional and experienced option in a sea of amateurs (aka your competition).

  3. Develop relationships with various insurance providers (read Insurance Types Cheat Sheet to see which areas you should explore). Have them on speed dial to provide quotes, answer your questions, and make sure your policies actually meet your customer’s requirements - and that you’re not paying for an ounce of unrequired coverage. And remember, insurance providers may take several days, if not 1-2 weeks, to generate quotes, so plan accordingly. (see link for a common list of providers to start with).
